Kathleen Peavy Burkhalter passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 17, 2007 surrounded by her loving family.
She was a native of Toombs County and lived most of her adult life in Savannah. She retired after 31 years of service as office manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 508. She was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, Pilgrim Sunday School Class and the Savannah Elks Ladies Auxillary.
She will be remembered for the love shown to her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and church activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents B. Pickett Peavy and Lillie Maud Peavy, and a brother John B. Peavy.
Survivors include; her husband of 53 years, Cleveland L. Burkhalter, two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Jimmy Deal and Susan and Chris Nettles and four grandchildren, Katie and James Deal and Kyle and Cole Nettles. One sister, Margaret Nelson Lane Sr., one brother, George L. Peavy, of Vidalia, GA, a sister-in-law, Betty Peavy and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will be in Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric Peavy, Wayne Kirkley, Greg Kirkley, Greg Burkhalter, Edward Burkhalter, Carl Burkhalter, Lee Burkhalter, and Johnny Dawson.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, Green House Project, 412 Parkersburg Road, Savannah, GA 31406
